What do we do in a family therapy?

The first session, I meet with the entire family unit for 75 minutes to hear your reasons for beginning therapy together. My role is to hold a safe space for uncomfortable conversations. As your therapist, I do not take sides. Each person will have the space and time to express their concerns and feel their emotions.

If everyone is in agreement, I may meet individually with family members. Each family member receives the same number of individual sessions and what is shared in an individual session is openly discussed in joint sessions. I suggest that each family member find an individual therapist. I am happy to provide referrals.

If you’d like to get a sense of my therapeutic style, you are welcome to schedule a 15-minute phone consultation at no cost.
